CERVICAL SMEAR TESTS

This test helps to detect cancer at the neck of the womb at an early and treatable stage. Smears are usually taken by the practice nurse. We notify all women when their next test is due. If your test is normal, you will be informed by letter. Similarly, if any abnormality is found, we will let you know and advise on further tests or treatment required. When your appointment is for a smear test, please tell the receptionist, so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
