DR MURDOCH SHIRREFFS

MBChB (Aberdeen 1970), DRCOG, FRCGP, MFHom

Born in Aberdeen in 1947, Dr Shirreffs trained at Aberdeen University Medical School and qualified in 1970.

A partner in the practice since 1974, he has a particular interest in complementary medicine. As well as practising hypnotherapy, he is a qualified homeopathic specialist and is in charge of the NHS Grampian Homeopathy Service. For many years, he was the practice’s lead GP Trainer, during which time some 21 young doctors completed their General Practice education.

Gilbert Road Medical Group strive to provide high quality medical care, and Dr Shirreffs is responsible for Clinical Governance in the practice. This involves continuing supervision and audit of clinical activity, to ensure that standards of care remain high.

Dr Shirreffs has been married to Jenny since 1971 and is child-free. As well as thoroughly enjoying his work, he plays hockey regularly and also has interest in jazz, classical music, DIY, gardening, travel and the theatre.
